To our readers:

We would like to sincerely thank you for taking a few minutes to participate in our 2014 Readers’ Choice poll.

With over 500 responses – our best response ever – we are confident that these results accurately reflect your opinions.

In each category, winners are listed in order of reader preference; the establishment chosen the most is listed first, followed by the runner up, and then third place.

Of note this year is the number of new businesses that placed in the poll. 2014 saw many new establishments – BoatHouse Canton, Fleet Street Tavern, Barcocina, Beans and Grapes, etc. – open their doors in East Baltimore. You our readers have apparently welcomed them with open arms.

Enjoy the results; they’re all yours!

AND NOW FOR A FEW STAFF FAVORITES

In addition to your readers’ choice picks, we thought we would like to include a few staff favorites. Some of these are outside of our coverage area and worth the drive; others we simply wanted to recognize.

Scooter’s Seafood Carryout
1611 Bank St., Fell’s Point
“I love Scooter’s for their friendly staff, unbeatable crabs, and the fact that they’re a family business.”
– Jessica Chaney, account executive

Highlandtown Gallery
248 S. Conkling St., Highlandtown
“I spent a delightful afternoon at the gallery with my Dad. We perused the art, then noshed on cupcakes and coffee while watching a demo from a local artist. Thank you to Felicia for bringing such a creative space to the community.”
– Julie M. Kichline, art director

King Discount Liquors
8226 Pulaski Hwy., Rosedale
“So many places call themselves ‘discount,’ but King Liquors really is. Nowhere else do I walk out with 1.75 liters of good gin and a 24-pack of Yuengling for well under $50.”
– Erik Zygmont, editor

Costas Inn
4100 North Point Blvd., Dundalk
“The crabs and the atmosphere are perfect.”
– Jackie Miller, office manager

Pizza John’s
113 Back River Neck Rd., Essex
“They have the best pepperoni pizza with the crispiest crust. And, not only are their pizzas good, but their milkshakes are fantastic too.”
– Jennifer Glosenger, designer/web
