Eastern Ave., 2600 block, Aug. 18, 9:10 p.m. A man and two women reported that they were walking in Patterson Park at about 500 Luzerne Ave. when they were approached from behind by suspects on bicycles. The suspects demanded their cell phones, and then pulled out dark handguns. The man refused to cooperate. He was attacked by one of the suspects, and his cell phone was taken. The man fought the suspect, and told the women to run. The suspects did not manage to take anything from the women. One suspect was arrested.
Eastern Ave., 3200 block, Aug. 19, 1:50 p.m. A woman reported that while she was walking, a man ran up from behind her and grabbed her purse. She struggled to hold on, but was overpowered and thrown to the ground, and the suspect fled with her property.
N. Bradford St., 500 block, Aug. 20, 10:20 p.m. A teen reported that he was followed by two suspects when one of them tripped him, knocking him to the ground. The two suspects began punching and kicking the victim, and they took his iPhone. The victim’s mother reported that she received a call, and the phone was returned a short time later. The victim refused medical treatment.
E. Fairmount Ave., 2600 block, Aug. 20, 10:58 p.m. A woman reported that she had just parked her car when she observed the male, teenage suspects walking toward her. They split into two groups. She took out her pepper spray and told them to stay away. They told her they had a gun, and one displayed a black semiautomatic. They demanded that she put her wallet and property on the ground. She complied; they took her property and fled.
N. Washington St., 300 block, Aug. 20, 11:20 p.m. The victim was walking when she was approached by two men in their 20s. One said, “Get the pockets,” and then went into her pants pockets, taking $30 and a bus pass.
S. Eden St., unit block, Aug. 21, 3:50 p.m. A man said that he had just cashed a check at the location, and when he went outside and sat on the sidewalk, a man approached with a knife and said, “Give me your money, or I’ll kill you.” The suspect then ordered a second male suspect, who was in his 50s, to hit the victim with a cane. The victim fought back; the suspects assaulted him, took his property, and fled.
Grundy St., 500 block, Aug. 21, 8:27 p.m. A man reported that suspects approached and a man said, “Give me your money.” As the victim backed up, the suspect maced him. The suspects fled. During a search of the area, the suspect who had maced the victim was found, identified and arrested.
S. Exeter St., 700 block, Aug. 21, 11:15 p.m. A man said that as he was trying to go into a building on Aliceanna St., the suspects followed him, pushed him into a glass door, and took the cell phone from his hand. They fled. The victim was taken to the hospital; he suffered a dislocated shoulder.
Eastern Ave., 3400 block, Aug. 22, 3:48 a.m. A man told police that another man approached and asked for a cigarette; the victim replied that he had none. The suspect then pushed him and snatched the gold chain from his neck while another man acted as a lookout. The suspects fled, put were later observed in the 3400 block of Bank St. during a search of the area. They were arrested.
Eastern Ave., 6000 block, Aug. 18, 10 a.m. An employee stated that someone smashed the side glass door, entered the business, shattered other windows inside, and stole $200 and six wool and knit hats with “Toyota” stitched on the front.
Eastbrook Ave., 6900 block, Aug. 18, 11 a.m. A man told police that someone entered his dwelling through an unsecured side window, took medications, and fled.
S. Curley St., unit block, Aug. 18, 12:53 p.m. Police responded to the location for a burglary call that stated that three males broke into the rear of the property. Upon arrival, police found the rear door glass busted out at the vacant location. The suspects were not present; it is unknown if property was taken.
N. Potomac St., 100 block, Aug. 19, 2:45 p.m. Someone kicked in the rear door of the dwelling while the victim was away. There was severe damage to the door and frame. Missing were three video game consoles, a Bluray player, and a laptop. The house was also ransacked.
S. Ellwood Ave., 400 block, Aug. 19, 4:40 a.m. A woman reported that while she was asleep, she was awoken by a man who came in through the open rear window. He tried to take her laptop, but fled when she saw him. The victim gave chase but lost him. She returned to find her iPhone, iPad, $40 and keys missing.
E. Baltimore St., 2900 block, Aug. 19, 11 p.m. When the victim’s awoke for work, their bikes were missing. They did not make the report until they returned home from work. There were holes in the kitchen window screen which were apparently used to open the locks. Stolen were three high-end bikes and a laptop.
S. Conkling St., 900 block, Aug. 19, 11:30 p.m. An unknown suspect used an unknown object to shatter the front window. Inside the business, the suspect broke apart the cash register and took $500. During investigation, a citizen reported that he found part of the cash register near his truck. A few credit cards and a small amount of change was recovered. The crime lab responded.
