Police blotter: Southeast

Crime Scene is a representative sampling, not a comprehensive listing, of crimes reported to the Southeastern Police District. This week’s Crime Scene was compiled by Mary Helen Sprecher.
Robbery
Bank Street, 1600 block, November 21, 12:40 a.m. An on-duty officer saw a male suspect running away from a man who was lying on the ground on top of his bicycle. The suspect was stopped and the man was asked what happened. The man told police that three suspects had approached him, pushed him off his bike and beaten him in an attempt to take his bike, but he held onto it. The suspect, age 17, was arrested.
E. Fairmount Avenue, 2300 block, November 21, 10 p.m. A man told police that a group of teenaged male suspects approached him, threatened him with a handgun and said, “Check your s—t.” They robbed him of his cell phone and $60 cash.
N. Clinton Street, 100 block, November 19, 4:32 p.m. A man at an automotive business had pointed a handgun at him, referred to him by name and told him he wanted his money. The suspect fled with the man’s wallet and $1,200 in cash.
Holabird Avenue, 6600 block, November 18, 2:21 a.m. A woman told police that she was robbed at knifepoint by a suspect described as a white male with a scruffy beard and red hair to about his ears. The suspect asked her if she were all right, then said, “What the f—k you have on you?” He took her purse containing $200 cash, five packs of Newport cigarettes, various I.D.s, her wallet, keys and birth certificate.
Broening Highway, 1400 block, November 18, 3:44 a.m. Two men told police that a suspect threatened them with a revolver and said, “Where’s the f-—g” money at?” and then proceeded to get into a struggle with them. A bystander called police and the two men sustained minor injuries. The suspects fled.
N. Bradford Avenue, 100 block, November 17, 6:30 p.m. A woman told police that she was getting out of her vehicle when a suspect approached her and said, “Bitch, this is a stick-up,” and grabbed her gold necklace, fur coat, diamond earrings and two diamond rings.
Oldham Street, 300 block, November 16, 9:29 p.m. A suspect entered a bar and pointed a shotgun at an employee, then took an unknown amount of cash and fled.
Aggravated Assault
Eastern Avenue, 6400 block, November 23, 4:15 p.m. A woman told police that after a fight with her boyfriend over her accepting a ride with a man, the boyfriend punched and choked her, then fled. The woman was advised to seek a peace order.
Elrino Street, 1500 block, November 22, 3:30 a.m. A man and woman argued and the man assaulted and choked the woman until she fell unconscious. Upon regaining consciousness, she contacted police. A warrant was issued.
Mason Court, 200 block, November 21, 8 p.m. A woman told police that she had gotten into an argument with her granddaughter, age 17, and that the granddaughter had threatened her with a kitchen knife. The granddaughter was arrested.
E. Lombard Street, 3800 block, November 20, 1 p.m. A suspect tried to leave a grocery store without paying for items. The suspect was detained and during the ensuing scuffle, an employee received minor injuries. The suspect was arrested.
N. Curley Street, 500 block, November 20, 7 p.m. Police responded to the report of an aggravated assault between a boyfriend and girlfriend. The man had become enraged and tried to burn the woman’s hat over the stove. They began punching and spitting on one another, and the woman tried to choke the man, who then grabbed a knife and told the woman he had killed three people and would kill her ask well. After they were arrested, both claimed that “No one did anything.” Police located 24 clear bags of a green plantlike substance, which were confiscated.
E. Fairmount Avenue, 3500 block, November 19, 2:30 a.m. Two men got into a fight and one cut another with a machete. The two had been drinking alcoholic beverages together prior to the incident.
Burglary
Eastern Avenue, 3100 block, November 22, 4:30 p.m. Someone broke the rear door of a church.
N. Luzerne Avenue, 600 block, November 20, 4:20 a.m. A man was arrested for breaking the basement window of the house of his ex-girlfriend in order to enter and get her to talk about their relationship.
a TV. The homeowner noted that the house might have been left unlocked.
Larceny from Auto
N. Glover Street, 200 block, November 23, 8:50 a.m. Portal Street, 1800 block, November 19, 5 p.m. Someone stole 22 catalytic converters from parked trucks.
