Thinking pink and getting bargains at Church on the Square

On April 12, a yard sale for charity will be held at Church on the Square 1025 S Potomac St.

A member of the Baltimore City Alum Chapter and chair of the event, Cait Drake, organized the Think Pink Yard Sale to raise money for breast cancer education and awareness.

She said that having a yard sale in the city is difficult.  There is very little space for tables and low visibility to attract buyers. She lives in a row home and experiences this first hand, which made the search for space the biggest obstacle to overcome.

But when Drake reached out to Church on the Square, they were instantly supportive. They said what the yard sale promotes, community involvement and charity, is all a part of their mission.

The yard sale has been in the planning stages for a while, and now that it’s becoming a reality, Drake is excited at the possibilities.

“It has such great potential to bring the community out and it gives them the opportunity to get yard sale price products while giving to a cause,” she said.

Drake will hold these yard sale twice a year if this event is a success. There will be 25 families at the yard sale selling items.

They will also be selling raffle tickets for a number of prizes that have been donated by local business, such as Charm City Fitness, the Canton Club, and The Chasseur restaurant. There will also be a bake sale and donations will be accepted throughout the week.

All proceeds go to breast cancer education and research.
